Virtual USB Drive
ArkKVM includes a built-in Virtual USB Drive that enables seamless file transfer between your local computer and the remote system.
What You Can Do
- Transfer files between your local device and remote systems — even before the OS boots, and without installing any software.
- Move files across isolated or restricted environments
- Upload drivers or tools during system setup
- Retrieve logs or data from remote machines
How It Works
The Virtual USB Drive bridges your local device and the remote system by combining file transfer and USB emulation into a single workflow.
On the ArkKVM Web UI
The Virtual USB Drive functions like a lightweight file manager:
- Upload files from your local computer
- Download files back to your device
- Manage files directly in the browser
All files are stored on the ArkKVM device and are available to the remote system when mounted.
On the Remote System
When mounted, the Virtual USB Drive appears as a standard USB storage device:
- Recognized as a regular USB flash drive
- No drivers or additional software required
- Accessible from BIOS, UEFI, or the operating system
How File Transfer Works
To transfer files from your local computer to the remote system:
- Open the Virtual USB Drive from the toolbar
- Upload files from your local device
- Mount the Virtual USB Drive to the remote system
- Access the drive on the remote system and copy files as needed
You can also reverse this process to retrieve files from the remote system.
Important Notes
- The Virtual USB Drive uses the FAT file system for maximum compatibility
- Reformatting the drive on the remote system may break compatibility with ArkKVM
- If this occurs, you may need to recreate or reset the virtual drive
tip
- For best compatibility, avoid changing the file system format
- If the drive does not appear, try reconnecting or refreshing the session
