Mount Drive

The Mount Drive feature allows ArkKVM to emulate a read-only virtual CD/DVD or disk drive on the target host. This drive is accessible even during BIOS or UEFI boot, making it useful for tasks like reinstalling an operating system or mounting an ISO to install applications on the target host.

ArkKVM supports the following image formats: ISO, IMG. The system provides two drive modes: CD/DVD Mode and disk Drive Mode. It's important to note that only one drive can be mounted at a time, and the drive mode must be set before mounting the image.

Mounting an Image

ArkKVM allows you to mount disk images to your remote system in two ways: Storage Mount and URL Mount.

Use this method if you want the best performance and reliability.

With Storage Mount, you first upload an image (ISO/IMG) to ArkKVM, then mount it to your remote system.

  • Fast and stable (similar to a local USB drive)
  • Works with most operating systems and installers
  • Recommended for OS installation
info

You need to upload the image to ArkKVM before mounting.

URL Mount

Use this method if your image is already hosted online.

ArkKVM can load the image directly from a URL, without uploading it first.

  • No need to upload files
  • Convenient for quick testing or temporary use
info

Performance depends on your network connection

info

Not recommended for large installations or unstable networks

USB Modes

When mounting an image, ArkKVM can present it to your system in two different ways. Choosing the right mode helps ensure compatibility.

CD/DVD Mode

The image appears as a virtual CD/DVD drive.

  • Best for older systems or Windows installers
  • More compatible in BIOS/UEFI environments

Disk Mode

The image appears as a USB drive.

  • Best for modern systems
  • Faster in most cases
  • Works well for Linux and newer OS installations
info

Some installers may not work in this mode.

If that happens, switch to CD/DVD Mode.

Which Option Should I Use?

  • Installing an OS → Storage Mount + Disk Mode
  • If it doesn’t boot → try CD/DVD Mode
  • Testing quickly → URL Mount
